Caroline van Lokven
Menopause Consultant
Caroline van Lokven is a nurse and trained at the St. Clara hospital in Rotterdam (now Maasstad hospital). After this she worked in various institutions in the departments of cardiology and cardiac surgery. She followed the Intensive Care course at the Erasmus MC in Rotterdam, after which she worked for several years in the IC department of the Kokkenberg in Breda.
More than 10 years ago she started looking into the menopause problems in women and discovered that there was far too little attention for this. In order to be able to provide these women with expert advice, she followed the menopause consultant training and then started her own practice. Cardiology still has her attention, especially cardiovascular diseases in women.
She has been working at Karmenta since 2019, where she works closely with the gynecologist at the menopause consultation hour. Sufficient time and attention is given here to women with menopausal complaints in an accessible and relaxed way.
In addition to her work as a menopause consultant, she has held a board position in the professional association VVOC (association of nursing menopause consultants) since 2016. Caroline is married and has 2 children.
